Support from the federal government for childcare centers in Illinois is about to be drastically cut. The American Rescue Plan provided funding which helped thousands of centers in the Prairie State make ends meet and stay in business.

But that funding expires today, and several daycare center owners in Chicago stated publicly that the federal money was all that kept them in business during the pandemic.

Industry analysts expect a significant number of families to be priced out of childcare while some facilities go out of business.
