As of Tuesday morning – the Fourth of July – there are still nearly 8,000 people without power across Springfield.

With Mayor Misty Buscher set to hold another 3 pm press conference today for further updates on the condition of Springfield, CWLP’s outage map indicates that over 7,000 of those without power live across the 62702, 62703, and 62704 zip codes.

Tuesday marks the fifth day since last Thursday’s powerful derecho, which felled trees, damaged property, caused power outages for over 40,000 people, and produced over 133 wires snapped and live wires around the city.

WMAY will have updates on this story as the situation continues to evolve; stay safe out there!
