A 55-year-old man is dead after being injured while working on an HVAC system Monday at Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport.

Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon says the man suffered blunt force injuries and burns in the accident.

He was taken to Springfield Memorial Hospital, where he died of his injuries; the airport authority describes the man as a contractor.

But there was no immediate information on his identity, who he worked for, or how the incident happened; an autopsy is planned for Wednesday.
