WMAY’s Last Night-in-Sports Report: 04/05/2023

The Chicago Blackhawks snapped an 8 game losing streak last night in Calgary as they held on to defeat the Flames 4-2 the final. Petr Mrazek did just enough in the net to earn the victory. The Hawks are in Vancouver tomorrow night to take on the Canucks.

Also on the ice last night Jordan Binnington stopped 32 shots as the St. Louis Blues defeated the Philadelphia Flyers at the Enterprise Center 4-2 the final. The Blues host the New York Rangers tomorrow night at the Enterprise Center.

As it concerns NBA news,  it was another disappointing loss for the Chicago Bulls as they fell to the Atlanta Hawks at the United Center 123-105. The Hawks were without star guard Trae Young who was out with a non Covid related illness. Despite the loss the Bulls clinched a spot in the NBA play-in game. The Bulls are in Milwaukee tonight to take on the Bucks.

In MLB, the Chicago Cubs offense exploded for 12 runs as they beat the Reds in Cincinnati 12-5 the final. Cubs and Reds wrap up their series today in Cincinnati.

Meanwhile, at Busch, the St. Louis Cardinals were held to just a single run as they fell to the visiting Atlanta Braves 4-1. Cards and Braves are scheduled to wrap up their series this afternoon at Busch.

After a day off yesterday the Chicago White Sox are back in action this afternoon at the Rate as they host the San Fransciso Giants. First pitch scheduled for 1:10p CT
