It’s been nearly three years since COVID-19 was first detected in Sangamon County.
Now – all that time later – the county has seen more than 76,000 total cases of the virus, with 444 deaths.
Sangamon County remains at a low level of transmission for the virus.
The CDC says 20 Illinois counties are currently at medium transmission levels, and for the second straight week, no Illinois county has a high transmission rate.
