NBC Universal’s Peacock streaming service is bringing one of the biggest horror franchise back with a ‘Friday the 13th’ prequel series called ‘Crystal Lake’. The influential A24 studio will be handling the series which will be written  by Bryan Fuller who has worked on a dark shows like ‘Hannibal’ on NBC.

Victor Miller who wrote the original 1980 ‘Friday the 13th’ film won a legal dispute with some limitations last year that allows this series to come creeping out of the lake. Miller’s side won in the Second Circuit Court of Appeals giving him the U.S. rights to the screenplay. This unfortunately does not allow this new series to use iconic elements established later in the horror series like Jason Vorhees’s memorable hockey mask.

Sean S. Cunningham who worked with Miller on the original film, is reportedly working on a Friday the 13th movie based on some changes he made in his Cameo bio page. Yeah, so it could get confusing for some not following the fight in the courts.

“I discovered ‘Friday the 13th’ in the pages of Famous Monsters magazine when I was 10 years old and I have been thinking about this story ever since,” Fuller said in an article from Variety. “When it comes to horror, A24 raises the bar and pushes the envelope and I’m thrilled to be exploring the camp grounds of Crystal Lake under their banner. And Susan Rovner is simply the best at what she does. It’s a pleasure and an honor to be working with her again.”
