Twisted Fork Is Great Food Downtown Springfield

There are many ways to a man’s heart. Some men through what we’ll call “snuggling,” others through their stomachs. I’m the second one all the way, especially as I get older; snuggling’s great, but food is much better.

It’s funny because, it’s my love of food that has fundamentally changed my center of gravity enough to where snuggling has now entered into second place – but if it’s between something like working out or eating chicken and waffles, well, it’s a no brainer.

I’m always looking for new places to eat, and a good time to try new things is when you have guests in town! My wife and I recently took some friends visiting from St. Louis out to a spot that we really wanted to try – Twisted Fork.

I had heard good things, but we just hadn’t gotten there yet.

Right under the St Nicholas Apartment complex off of Jefferson and Fourth in Downtown Springfield, the restaurant can be found in a very convenient part of town, with other shops, boutiques and eateries all around.

We sat down to a welcoming server in a very nice environment. The menu was great and it changes all the time so you’re bound to get new food from them on a consistent basis. Between the four of us, we got a slew of comfort food dishes like scotch eggs, a HUGE dutch baby (A Dutch baby pancake, sometimes called a German pancake, a Bismarck, a Dutch puff, Hooligan, or a Hootenanny, is a dish that is similar to a large Yorkshire pudding) covered in fresh strawberries and powdered sugar, chicken and waffles and a quiche so good I wanted to order one to go… although I didn’t.

We were in and out, which is something I love, and because it was such a great experience – we’re definitely going back. If you like options, if you like good people making tasty food – give Twisted Fork Downtown Springfield a try. You won’t be mad about it!
