The incoming chancellor of the University of Illinois Springfield is getting a look at the campus that she’ll be running, starting this summer.

Pending approval by the university board of trustees, Janet Gooch will take over at UIS on July 1st. One of her immediate goals is to seek to boost enrollment numbers, which dipped here and at other colleges and universities during the pandemic.

She hopes to apply some of the strategies used in her current position at Truman State University in Missouri, where she says efforts have been made to ensure that campus programs and workforce development offerings are meeting the current needs of students and the community.
