Some new animals will be on display when Henson Robinson Zoo opens for the season Saturday.
Among the additions to the zoo are six new African penguins, as well as a collection of wallabies, an Australian animal similar to a kangaroo. The zoo will have some special events for Saturday’s opening day, including chats with zookeepers, an exhibition of monarch butterflies, and a display of plans for a new African and Asian mammal exhibit.
Zoo hours are 10am to 5pm, and more details are available at springfieldparks.org.
