A Republican candidate for governor has picked up the endorsement of a controversial Trump administration figure.
Gary Rabine has been endorsed by Michael Flynn, who served briefly as Trump’s national security adviser before being ousted amid allegations that Flynn lied to the FBI about his contacts with Russian officials. Flynn pleaded guilty to those charges, but later sought to withdraw his plea before eventually being pardoned by Trump. He has since been outspoken in his view that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump.
Flynn says he’s supporting Rabine because of Rabine’s conservative principles, including opposition to COVID vaccine mandates.
