District 186 says it will encourage students and staff to continue to wear masks and observe other COVID mitigations, pending resolution of the legal battle over state mandates.

A Sangamon County judge ruled Friday that the state’s school mask mandate, and its vaccination-or-testing requirement for school staff, are null and void.

The Pritzker administration is appealing that decision, but in the meantime, Springfield schools say their focus is to maintain in-person learning as safely as possible.
