COVID continues to have a big impact on Springfield public schools.
More than 850 students have tested positive for the virus in the past week, and more than 2,000 students… or roughly one-sixth of the entire student population… are being kept out of classrooms because of COVID symptoms or exposure. 91 District 186 staffers have also tested positive in the past seven days.
Several elementary school classrooms did not have classes Friday because of the large number of cases, but all plan to return to in-person instruction Tuesday.
