It is a wonderful thing to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it is an otherworldly thing to get inducted by a Beatle. Paul McCartney did the sacred honors for the Foo Fighters who officially entered the Hall at a sold-out ceremony in Ohio this past weekend. Fan-filmed footage has hit YouTube documenting the touching speeches and a rousing collaborative performance with the Foos and McCartney.

In his speech, McCartney compared Grohl’s post-Nirvana path to his own musical resurgence after the end of the Beatles. Just like McCartney, Grohl recorded his first album outside the band that gave him acclaim on his own with no other musician before forming a band around that spark.

These fan-shot videos come from John Michael Scott Photography and Nick P.

Grohl ever so humorous joked about how he has spent the last 25 years talking too much on stage adding “blah, blah, blah rock and roll”. He graciously thanked his family, his close friends in the band, and the people that have contributed to the band over their outstanding careers. It was special to hear from the collective members of the band from Taylor Hawkins, Pat Smear, Nate Mindel, Rami Jaffee, and Chris Shifflett in this joyous occasion as well. You really get the sense that these guys truly love and appreciate one another which is not easy to do for such a long time.

Now check out some of the band’s epic performance at the ceremony.
