Mental Health Monday: You Always Have Someone [VIDEO]

Mental Health Monday, Rocki

I know sometimes it’s very easy to feel alone in your depression and anxiety. It’s one of the most isolating feelings I’ve ever personally experienced. Even if you’re upstairs in your room and your entire family is just down the stairs – you can still feel so alone. This is nothing but a feeling – and feelings can be worked on and changed.

I remember when I first started feeling anxiety and depression; I had absolutely no clue what I was going through. Thankfully today, the stigma is really diminishing, and hopefully with that, this feeling of isolation can cease to exist.

For now though, realize you are NEVER alone. Even if it takes getting love and care from a stranger, you are never alone, and you are ALWAYS enough.

One of the reasons I can say that so confidently, is because we have some pretty great mental health resources right here in the Capital City for those who need them. Whether it’s one-on-one therapy, Gateway Services, Memorial Behavioral Health, or any other of our local resource hubs – there are plenty of ways to receive judgment-free advice and help.

Also, remember that 988 is also a fantastic resource for those not only in a mental health crisis but for those who feel like they need to help a loved one as well. It’s such a great number to all, and you can call it any time.

Coming up in July, we at 98.7 WNNS will also be holding our second annual safeTALK training. LivingWorks safeTALK is a four-hour training that equips people to be more alert to someone thinking of suicide and better able to connect them with further help. Using a simple yet effective model, LivingWorks safeTALK empowers everyone to make a difference. With over 120,000 people attending each year, it’s the world’s fastest-growing suicide prevention skills training course.

We will get out information to you shortly, but I definitely would love to see you there. Save the date for July 20th.

So remember, even though you might FEEL alone – you never are. And you can always reach out to me at Rocki@WNNS.com. Have a great week!

Enjoy this week’s happy fun time video!
