A bomb threat is to blame for the Illinois State Capitol being recently placed on lockdown.

Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias said the bomb threat was made Sunday outside the capitol in Springfield,
leading the Secretary of State Police to issue a lockdown and sweep for explosive devices.

The capitol was later reopened after the threat was deemed as not credible.
