Springfield remains on edge after a threat to one of the area high schools on Friday morning.

At approximately 9:06 a.m., personnel at Springfield High School – 101 S. Lewis Street – received a call from a crisis helpline.

Information had been received earlier that the helpline had been speaking with a subject who had advised them that explosive devices had been placed on the property.

Students were evacuated from the school, and parents were notified of the incident. Springfield Police are investigating, and K9 searches of the entire SHS property are ongoing.

There has been nothing dangerous located at this time, and no injuries were reported; additional information is set to be released as it becomes available.
