In legislation proposed by Republican Rep. Jed Davis of southwestern Chicago, blood banks would be required to test donated blood for evidence of any COVID-19 vaccine and any other messenger ribonucleic acid vaccine components. Recipients would then have the option of refusing such blood in transfusions.
The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine states that the two mRNA COVID vaccines are very good at preventing serious or fatal cases of COVID-19 and the risk of serious side effects associated with these vaccines is very small.
