The Illinois Department of Transportation has been recognized for an innovative project designed to reduce fossil fuel consumption.
The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials recognized IDOT’s study for the installation of solar panels on Department facilities as one of 16 high-value research projects nationwide.
It’s part of the state’s efforts to help Illinois reach 25% renewable energy by 2025.
