Sunday was Veterans and Gold Star Families Day at the Illinois State Fair.
The families of fallen soldiers of past conflicts wre honored at a special brunch to start the day off with. Joe Schaler, Illinios State Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart told the crowd that when he was serving, it was all about surivivng – not neccesarily considering the families back home.
A Veteran’s Day program followed the brunch, with more speakers and The Illinois Army Ntional Guard’s 114th Army Band – playing music represetntative of each branch of the United States Armed Forces.
