Gov. JB Pritizker signed bipartisan legislation to require all counties with a population over 70,000 to have a county auditor, lowering the minimum population from 75,000.

The law only affects one county in the entire state, Vermillion county, located between Urbana Champaign and the Indiana border.

The addition brings the number of counties which must have an auditor to 21 out of 102 counties in the state.
