While fireworks are a remarkably popular way to celebrate holidays and significant events, the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal is encouraging anyone who enjoys them to leave their use to trained professionals this summer.

As per the office, “According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), fireworks started an estimated 12,264 fires in 2021, including 2,082 structure fires, 316 vehicle fires, and 9,866 outside and other fires.”

The office also noted that such “novelties” as sparklers, snappers, or poppers are also quite dangerous and routinely injure adults and children alike; more information can be found at the link right here!
