A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run Saturday morning in Springfield. Police were called to 8th and North Grand just after 10:30 am.
They attempted to provide first aid for the injured man, but he died a short time after being transported to HSHS St. John’s Hospital. The vehicle that struck him did not stop, but police believe it was a dark-colored SUV or truck.
Detectives have talked to witnesses and gathered video footage from the area, but are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Springfield Police or Crimestoppers.
