Chicago is a step closer to having its first authorized casino.

The Illinois Gaming Board has given preliminary approval to a plan by Bally’s to continue site preparations and hire staff to man a temporary casino location.

If final approval is granted, that temporary site could be open as early as August.

That would allow Bally’s to conduct gaming while it finalizes plans for a much larger, permanent casino complex which could still be several years away.
