A Springfield man is headed to prison for 15 years on federal drug charges.
37-year-old Vonta Commer was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty in January to one count of possession of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine with intent to deliver it.
Prosecutors say Commer is a street gang member with a long criminal history, who was found with over five pounds of the drug in 2022. They say Commer had been selling similar quantities of meth for years.
Commer was on supervised release after getting out of prison on a state drug conviction when he was arrested
