Tina Turner one of the most iconic voices in rock and pop music, died today according to a post on her official social media accounts. The legendary singer was 83 and was said to have passed peacefully after a long illness. CBS News had extensive coverage in this video of her adventurous career from working way from the rural south to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Turner’s lengthy career saw her perform into her 70’s with multiple platinum hits across decades that started with her time with her former husband and ex-collaborator Ike Turner who abused her and forced her to reinvent herself as a performer after a divorce that left her with very little. Turner saw new waves of success in the 1980s with a huge comeback that saw hits like ‘Private Dancer’ and many more.
