Illinois lawmakers will need a few more days, at least, to wrap up business and go home for the summer.

Lawmakers failed to meet their original Friday deadline to pass a budget and adjourn the spring session.

There are reportedly still significant differences among budget negotiators on how to pay for various programs, including expanded medical care for undocumented people living in the state.

The problem has been made worse by recent downward revisions in state revenue estimates.

There’s no word yet on when lawmakers now expect to finish their work and pass a budget.
