Work begins Monday on repairing potholes on sections of Interstates 55 and 72 near Springfield.
The Illinois Department of Transportation says the work will be done in the evening and overnight hours, from 7 pm to 6 am, over the next two weeks.
There will be periodic lane closures in connection with the work, but IDOT says at least one lane in each direction will remain open at all times.
Drivers are advised to slow down, use caution, and consider alternate routes while the work is underway.
