A Springfield dental practice will pay $300,000 to resolve allegations that it improperly billed Medicaid for services that were not medically necessary.
The payment ends a federal investigation into the practices of Familia Dental.
Federal prosecutors and regulators teamed up with the Illinois State Police Medicaid Fraud Control Unit to investigate the claims; the U.S. Attorney’s Office says the investigation covered a period from June 2016 to November 2019.
While there was no formal finding of liability, Familia Dental agreed to pay $120,000 to the federal government and $180,000 to the state to bring the matter to a close.
