WMAY’s Last Night-in-Sports Report: 05/10/2023

The Chicago Cubs salvaged the final game of the series with the St. Louis Cardinals last night at Wrigley with a 10-4 victory. Patrick Wisdom and Yan Gomes homered to lead the Cubs offense, and Justin Steele went 6 innings giving up 7 hits and 3 runs to earn his 6th win of the season.

The Cubs are off today and will be in Minnesota tomorrow to start a series with the Twins. Meanwhile, the Cards are also off today and will be in Boston tomorrow to start a series with the Red Sox.

The Chicago White Sox got blown out by the Royals in KC last night 9-1 the final. Lance Lynn took the loss for the Sox. Lynn is now 1-5 on the season with a 7.51 ERA. Sox and Royals wrap up their series this afternoon in KC.

In the NBA playoffs last night, both the New York Knicks and Golden State Warriors staved off elimination. The Knicks did it by defeating the Miami Heat at MSG 112-103. Also, the Warriors took care of the Lakers 121-106.

And, in the NHL playoffs, the Toronto Maple Leafs are still alive thanks to a 2-1 victory over the Panthers in Florida last night. The Leafs still trail in the series 3-1. Elsewhere the Edmonton Oilers tied their series up with the Las Vegas Golden Knights at 2 games apiece with a 4-1 victory.
