‘You hear it here first’

In a series of cutbacks by Paramount Global has shutdown MTV News after 36 years as a vessel within MTV to deliver youth-oriented counter-coverage of everything pop culture and beyond. This unfortunate move comes with Paramount shedding 25% of their staff at their TV netowrks.

Lead by respected journalists like Kurt Loder, Tabitha Soren, and more on shows like ‘the Week in Rock’ and their annual ‘Year in Rock’ specials, this division within MTV was a part of the fabric of the rock music boom of the 80’s and 90’s. Now it is no more.

Loder was recently featured with deep fake de-aging technology in a faux report for the TV series ‘Yellowjackets’ which takes place in the ’90s.

Loder for example broke the news of Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain passing away in breaking news reports that interrupted regular programming on MTV in April 1994. Here is that unfortunate report as it aired at the time.
