One of the main venues on the Illinois State Fairgrounds will be back in service for this year’s fair.
The Multi-Purpose Arena was closed last year for an $8.6 million renovation that included repairs to sidewalks, steps, and electrical systems, along with readjusting the tension structure of the arena, installing a new canopy, and rebuilding retaining walls.
The arena will host four events during this year’s fair – a monster truck show on August 10, a rodeo on August 12, truck and tractor pulls on August 14 through the 16, and a demolition derby on the 19th.
