A former Illinois governor has returned to the Statehouse to call for a special legislative session to deal with ethics reform.

Pat Quinn was lieutenant governor under Rod Blagojevich when Blagojevich was arrested on corruption charges, and was then impeached and removed from office, elevating Quinn to the job of governor.

On his first day in office in 2009, Quinn created a reform commission to address ethics issues, but says there are still many things that need to be done to prevent the kind of conduct that led to last week’s convictions in the “ComEd Four” trial.

Quinn says the special session should be called concurrently with the current spring legislative session, because he says reforms, like binding conflict of interest laws and other changes, cannot wait.
