Strong storms that rolled through Central Illinois Sunday afternoon led to emergency sirens going off in Springfield – but there were no reports of significant damage.

A tornado warning was issued for south central Sangamon County Sunday afternoon, and the storm dropped hail measuring one to two inches in diameter on parts of the area; there was some minor hail damage reported.

Springfield fire officials say the possibility of large and damaging hail led them to sound the sirens as a precaution.
