State officials say they are closely monitoring residents of the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy after a single case of Legionnaire’s disease was found there.
That facility was the scene of a major outbreak of the waterborne illness in 2015.
Back then, 13 residents of the home died, and dozens more were sickened by the illness – which was eventually linked to the facility’s water system.
In the current case, officials say the resident has only had mild symptoms and is recovering; in addition to monitoring all residents for symptoms of the illness, the home in Quincy is conducting extensive testing of the water system.
