WMAY’s Last Night-in-Sports Report: 04/12/2023

The Chicago Cubs found themselves down 7-0 to the Seattle Mariners in the 2nd inning last night at Wrigley. The Cubs however would fight all the way back and defeat the Mariners in a slugfest 14-9 the final. The big blow for the Cubs was a grand slam off the bat of Nelson Velazquez, the first of his career. Cubs and Mariners wrap up their series this afternoon at Wrigley.

A throwing error cost the Chicago White Sox in Minnesota yesterday as they fell to the Twins in 10 innings 4-3 the final. Luis Robert homered for the Sox in the loss. The Sox and Twins wrap up their series this afternoon in Minnesota.

Jordan Walker extended his hit streak to 11 games as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Rockies in Colorado 9-6. Cards and Rockies wrap up their series this afternoon in Colorado.

In the NHL last night, the Chicago Blackhawks went into Pittsburgh and defeated the Penguins 5-2 the final. Petr Mrazek made 36 saves to pick up the victory in net. The Hawks wrap up their season tomorrow night as they host the Philadelphia Flyers at the United Center.

On the ice tonight, the St. Louis Blues host the Dallas Stars at the Enterprise Center. Puck drop scheduled for 6:30p CT.

And, in the NBA, the Chicago Bulls play in journey begins tonight in Toronto as they take on the Raptors. If the Bulls win tonight they would then head to Miami to take on the Heat on Friday night. Tip off for Bulls and Raptors tonight is scheduled for 6p CT.
