A vote is expected next week on a revised agreement that could jumpstart the long-awaited sports complex planned for the Legacy Pointe area.

The developers of the planned Scheels Sports Park have now decided to try to build the entire complex – both indoor and outdoor facilities – at one time instead of in phases.

But higher construction costs and higher interest rates have led developers to seek a bigger financial commitment from the city – $45 million, up from the previous request of $36 million.

The money would come from hotel-motel taxes and a partial rebate of sales and property taxes generated by the complex.

If aldermen approve, construction on outdoor fields and a 150,000-square-foot “air dome” could begin this summer; a fact sheet concerning the project can be found below!
