Illinois will share in a $462 million settlement with e-cigarette manufacturer Juul as part of a deal that will also require the company to end misleading advertising that officials say understated the dangers of vaping.

Six states and the District of Columbia joined together on the lawsuit, which alleged that Juul targeted minors with ads and giveaways, while falsely claiming that vaping was safer and lower in nicotine than smoking.

Illinois will receive more than $67 million as its share of the settlement.
