Chicago has been chosen as the host city for the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
Governor JB Pritzker and other state and local officials had pushed hard to showcase Chicago on the national stage ahead of the final weeks of the presidential race.
President Biden is widely expected to seek a second term, but the convention will also be a chance for the party to present its future stars.
The convention will run from August 19-22 next year, and is expected to draw more than 50,000 visitors to Chicago.
The last time Democrats gathered in Chicago was in 1996. Republicans will hold their national convention next year in Milwaukee.
