A unique restaurant is set to open up in what formerly housed Dew Chilli Parlor on Springfield’s west side.

It’s called… the Ugly Restaurant & Bar – which will offer Turkish cuisine. Owners Ersen Yildirin and his wife, Tuba also operate the nearby nail salon with a similar name, Ugly Nail.

“My wife said we should do something different, otherwise nobody will remember the name. We should do something catchy and fun.”

Yildirin, who moved to the area nine years ago, tells the Springfield Business Journal that he previously operated a restaurant in his native Turkey, however Ugly Restaurant & Bar will be his first experience stateside. While Yildirin’s focus is on the restaurant, his wife will manage the nail salon.

The former Dew Chilli Parlor won’t need much renovating, and plans are to have a soft opening this coming Monday (April 10). Hours of operation will be 10AM-10PM everyday, but plans are to stay open later once the restaurant is able to serve alcohol.

“People are already really excited, because this is something very different and new in Springfield.”

Ugly Restaurant & Bar is located at 2312 West Wabash Ave. in Springfield.
