It could be a big disruption late in the spring semester at Eastern Illinois University. Faculty and staff at EIU are expected Monday to file a 10-day notice of their intent to strike.
The union representing 450 employees at the school says they will walk off the job April 6 unless there is significant progress toward a contract before then. Only one bargaining session is scheduled between now and then.
The union says so far, the administration’s contract offers have amounted to an effective pay cut for faculty and staff.
