Know any young photography enthusiasts? Well, Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs would love for them to participate in this year’s Cream of the Crop Photo Contest!

The contest – run by the state – encourages enthusiasts and artists alike to submit photographs of how they see and perceive the agriculture which sustains the people of Illinois and the rest of the nation – alongside parts of the rest of the world too!

As noted by the state treasurer, “Let’s seek photographs to showcase why Illinois is a leader in the agricultural industry with its rich soil, diversity in products, and millions of acres of farmland. We want to encourage students to grab their cameras, get out, and explore the beauty Illinois has to offer.”

Over the 11 years that the contest has been active, some 500 plus students have submitted over 1000 pictures of their agricultural vision and perception of life around them.

Winning photos are to be used in the state’s agricultural investment campaign for the relevant season.

The Illinois state treasurer’s office is accepting electronic submissions for the Cream of the Crop Photo Contest at www.CreamoftheCropContest.com; the top photographs will be chosen in three age-based categories: ages 8‑10, 11‑14, and 15-18.

Each student may submit up to two photos by June 12, 2023.
