Sangamon County State’s Attorney Dan Wright is among those expressing support for Governor JB Pritzker’s proposals to expand access to early childhood education – and to boost pay for workers in that field.

The Republican state’s attorney says the Democratic governor’s proposal is an essential long-range investment in strategies that will proactively help steer kids onto more productive paths and away from crime.

Wright is a member of “Fight Crime Invest In Kids,” a group of prosecutors and law enforcement professionals looking for ways to bring crime rates down.

That group and several others say not only will the early childhood initiative help kids down the road, it will make it easier for parents to go to work, giving them the economic stability that also keeps crime rates down.
