Thirteen new members are being inducted into the Springfield Sports Hall of Fame.

This year’s class includes a number of high school standouts, including Jim Files, a 1980 Lanphier High graduate and the only runner from a Springfield school to win a state cross-country championship.

The new inductees also feature a father and son – longtime Lanphier girls’ basketball coach Doug Collins and his son Major Clay, a two-time state high jump champion.

Also being honored at this week’s event are former State Journal-Register sportswriters Mike Chamness and Jim Ruppert.
