UPDATED VERSION: No one is injured, but one man is in custody after an incident in which he allegedly fired shots at Springfield police.

Officers were called to a home in the 700 block of South English just after 7 pm Saturday for a report of a man with a gun.

When police arrived, they say the man fired the weapon at an officer, who dove for cover. As more officers arrived, they said the man fired two more rounds, with one shot striking a police vehicle.

The man remained inside the home for several hours, communicating with family members and law enforcement.

Just before 1 am Sunday, the man and a woman left the home after police deployed a chemical irritant. 44-year-old Clayton Brewer was arrested.

Police also recovered a revolver and three grams of suspected crack cocaine. Brewer is facing multiple charges and is being held on a $1 million bond.

The woman in the home was not arrested.
