The father of the suspect in the deadly Fourth of July parade shooting in Highland Park has now been charged with multiple felonies for helping his son obtain a gun license in 2019.

Robert Crimo, Jr. is facing seven counts of reckless conduct for sponsoring his then 19-year-old son’s application… even though Robert Crimo the Third had been suicidal and had made threats to kill family members just months earlier.

The Lake County State’s Attorney says the older Crimo knew of his son’s problems and sponsored the application anyway. Robert Crimo the Third is accused of using legally-purchased weapons to carry out the parade shooting that killed seven people.
