The investigation of a shooting last year that killed one police officer and wounded another has now led to the arrest of a suspected firearms trafficker.
Illinois State Police have continued to follow leads as they investigate the killing of Sergeant Marlene Rittmanic and the wounding of Officer Tyler Bailey after they responded to a complaint call at a hotel in Bradley.
Investigators say the weapon used against those officers was originally purchased by 23-year-old Jaron Shannon of Kankakee… one of at least ten weapons that police say he illegally transferred to others. Shannon becomes the 8th suspect to be charged in connection with those shootings last December.
