A Sangamon County organization is one of 18 around the state receiving a grant to address disparities in access to health care… a problem that has gotten worse since the start of the COVID pandemic.

The Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Kappa Sigma Zeta Chapter, says it will use the money on programs to address overall health and well-being in under-served communities, including minority neighborhoods and rural areas, with a specific emphasis on closing the gap on vaccinations and boosters in those communities.

The state is awarding a total of $3.7 million in grants through a federally funded program called ARISE… Activating Relationships in Illinois for Systemic Equity.
