A truck driver has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for a DUI crash that killed a woman in a convenience store parking lot.

Bennie Jackson of Auburn pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated driving under the influence of drugs for that crash in May of 2020. Prosecutors say Jackson had cocaine, meth, and other drugs in his system as he drove an Auburn Township truck from Springfield to Auburn. He ran off the road and into the parking lot of a Casey’s General Store, where his truck struck and killed 62-year-old Obaidah Gresham of Auburn, who was standing outside her vehicle.

Jackson could have gotten up to 14 years on the charges.
