As Republican lawmakers and candidates continue to warn of problems ahead with the full implementation of the state justice reform law called the SAFE-T Act, some Democrats are reportedly discussing last-minute changes to the law to clarify some of its provisions.

Supporters of the law say critics are intentionally misleading the public about the end of cash bail and the conditions under which criminal suspects can continue to be held while awaiting trial.

But some also acknowledge that the wording of the statute is vague at times, and they hope to make some tweaks to it when the legislature returns to Springfield in November.
