Millikin University in Decatur is the beneficiary of a generous gift from the estate of a woman who graduated from the school more than 70 years ago.
Mary Linder, who died in 2016, was a 1949 graduate of the school, and had previously donated more than $1 million to Millikin. But the final resolution of her estate produced another $3.8 million gift to the university. Linder and her husband Ralph were both Millikin alums… Ralph died in 2011.
In their honor and in recognition of the couple’s support of Millikin, the school has put their names on a veranda in the Center for Theatre and Dance, overlooking the quad.
